Sign in with Two-Factor Authentication - TOTP
Learn how to enable and use two-factor authentication (TOTP) in Higher. Step-by-step guide for setting up Microsoft Authenticator or other apps, logging in securely, and verifying your account.
Enable the feature on your mobile device
Overview
To increase security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access to Higher through a compromised password, you can enable two-factor authentication. TOTP two-factor authentication (Time-based One-Time Password) means that you use an external application such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator to sign in to Higher. When signing in to Higher, you will be asked to verify the login using a temporary numeric code generated by your authenticator app.
To enable this, go to:
Overview > Settings > User Profile > Authentication > TOTP Two-Factor Authentication

⚠️ If Authentication is not visible in your user profile, contact us at Higher and we will help you enable the feature.
After saving your changes, you need to log out of your account and sign in again to add Higher to your authenticator app. In this guide, we will use Microsoft Authenticator to enable TOTP.
⚠️ Please note that the process may differ depending on the app you are using. If you are unsure how to proceed in your specific app, please refer to its documentation or contact your IT support for further assistance.
Enable the feature on your mobile device
The first time you log in to Higher after enabling TOTP, a unique QR code will appear that you need to scan using your authenticator app.
Open and sign in to your authenticator app, then add a new account. In Microsoft Authenticator, tap the plus icon.
Here, select “Other account (Google, Facebook, etc.)”.
After selecting “Other account,” the app will open your phone’s camera and prompt you to scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
After scanning the QR code, the account will be added as a two-factor authentication account. Then enter the 6-digit one-time password code shown in the app.
Next time you enter your login credentials in Higher, you will need to open your Authenticator app to verify the login. Note that the QR code will no longer be available, as you have already enabled TOTP in the previous steps.
Open your authenticator app and tap Higher to get the one-time password code that you need to enter as described above.
